The main event this weekend in Berlin has been and still is the BMW Berlin Marathon. Yesterday the inline skaters made the most of the course, and today the actual marathon kicked off with Geoffrey Mutai winning it in 2:04:15 (the fastest marathon time this year and very close to world record time), with his traning partner Dennis Kimetto just 1 second behind him!
Jan Fitschen was the first European to come in at 02:13:08, which was a new personal best - he was wearing Nike Flyknit Racers, and surely they helped him to the finish line!
The place for all runners to be, both pre and post-race, is definitely the super slick and comfy Nike+ Runners Lounge. All Nike+ users can register at Niketown Berlin to get free access. They are laying on massages, DJs from Music Couture, pro Athlete Q&A sessions and an amazing view over Berlin and the Marathon track. Pretty impressive - but then again this is Nike we are talking about.
Props to everybody who took part, no matter what your time! Run Long, Stay Strong.
