Martina Rink Launches her Isabella Blow Book This Thursday!
If you are a real fan of Isabella Blow then this stunning new book, compiled by Berliner Martina Rink, will be something you cannot live without.
This Thursday evening at The Corner Berlin, Martina Rink of Fashion Spotlight will present what has been a labour of love for her over the past couple of years. Simply called 'Isabella Blow', the book is a collection of photos and letters written in tribute to one of fashion's true trailblazer's by some of Blow's dearest friends and colleagues - fashion luminaries such as Mario Testino, Manolo Blahnik or Philipp Tracey (the latter who writes the Forward to the book and whom Isabella championed by hardly ever leaving the house without one of his fantastic hats on).
Isabella's story is one of many highs and lows - she was the fashion director at Tatler magazine and later The Sunday Times Style magazine. She discovered great talents such as Alexander McQueen (she famously bought his graduation collection in its entirity and paid him in 50 pound installments) as well as supermodel Sophie Dahl. Tragically Blow also suffered her entire life from manic depression and had attempted suicide almost half a dozen times before she died by drinking weed killer on May 6th 2007. She was just 48 years old. Alexander McQueen was said to be especially devasted by the death of his dear friend, and the fashion world was stunned when he too comitted suicide (by asphixiation) earlier this year.
BANG BANG BERLIN will be chatting with Martina Rink about her special tribute to Isabella Blow later this week, so stay tuned.
