Drop Dead Festival is celebrating its 10th year! The festivities start October 31st and last until November 4th, and take place at Cube in NeuKölln.
For those of you who don't know, Drop Dead is the longest running, independent, underground festival which brings together both up-and-coming and international artists from the new wave, post-punk and digital hardcore scenes.
Drop Dead originally started in New York City and since 2007 it has been a travelling entity, moving from Czech Republic to Portugal to Lithuania - howevr this will be the second year ina row its taken place in Berlin. Hey, we can understand why they love it in Berlin! Neukölln is the perfect place for such a festival with its alternative and creative communities being so prevalent. Spanning five days with over 40 bands, performers, DJs and artists from around the world. Taking place in Neukölln’s massive CUBE club, the festival combines multiple floors, art installations, vendors and music showcases each day.
Drop Dead’s opening night is October 31: Halloween. Therefore, the festival opens with a massive double-barrel party. The Berlin-based death-rave party PURGE brings aggression, fog and bass with live performances from Deathface (US) and CRIM3S (UK), while Leipzig’s gothic punks GPP keep it creepy with synth-punk and minimal electronics, and both floors feature a variety of DJs playing everything from Salem and Fad Gadget to Nguzunguzu. The aforementioned Unruh drum installation will also be supported by the ceremonial drone of Pharoah Chromium, as well as a haunted house presented by the Mindpirates collective.
