As a DJ with limited upper-body strength, I've long favoured digital over vinyl. However, the more the record industry looks to vinyl as a way of offering something valuable and collectible to music fans, and the more I come across stores like Berlin's own Bis Auf's Messer, the more I am drawn back to wax. No matter what format you prefer, you have to agree that a lovingly produced 12" in a full-colour, full-size sleeve is a work of art, and buying it a great way of supporting an artist.

So three cheers for Record Store Day Berlin! For the first time, the celebration of music and music stores that started in the US in 2007, has made its way to Berlin. And the home of hard wax, countless record labels and an ever-increasing number of musicians is a good place to be! Just for one day - Saturday 5th November - different stores all around the city will feature one-off and limited releases from their favourite labels, which will only be exclusively available in their store. These special releases will only be available on that day, and only in that specific record store!
