Tomorrow night, OneBeat's experimental sessions goes into its second round, as beatmaker KYSON squares up against visual artist RTZ23. Expect a concert-length audiovisual experience as Kyson's atmospheric downtempo beats blend with RTZ23's animated visuals.
Kyson, the newest member of the OneBeat collective, draws “influences from ambient and trip hop artists, jazz musicians such as Miles Davis and hip hop producers of the early 90s” to create a mix of “downtempo beats, soft melodies, washy vocals and deep pads“. Karsten Weil has been using the code RTZ23 since 1996 to stand for his experiments in sound design. His musical preferences reflect the ambivalence of his own work, ranging from funk and soul classics to cutting edge electro.
