Whit Monday? What Monday? Whatever. It's business as usual for us - but at least we have this track to make us feel like we're outside soaking up the sun. We give you Lucky Paul's warm analogue remix of "One Thing" by Amerie:
Berlin-based New Zealander Lucky Paul is about to release his first EP on Somethinksounds, an offshoot of cult magazine somethinkblue. Slow Ground leads with a video that perfectly captures the hot, humid stargaze of "Thought We Were Alone", which features the soulful vocals of Canadian artist Milosh:
Lucky Paul will draw comparisons with the Brainfeeder label's futuristic clip-hop and the naval-gazing bass sounds of Mount Kimbie and The xx, but has an aural identity of his own, thanks to homemade synths, samples of everyday objects and his studies of traditional Brazilian percussion on a round-world trip. Slow Ground also includes vocals from Jamie Lidell’s drummer Guillermo Brown and remixes from Gang Colours, Paul's labelmate Elphino and G$ vs Gold, Gadi of Wolf & Lamb and Eli of Soul Clap, respectively.
Somethinksounds releases Slow Ground by Lucky Paul on 20th June.
