Now-as I've said a million times over, I am always really happy to find parties in Berlin that show off some of the artiste talent besides the wall-to-wall techno DJs that are housed here (not that there is ANYTHING wrong with techno - I'm STILL a HUGE fan|!). The
Ich Bin Ein Berliner Festival aims to shed light on the artistes that are based here who are really making sounds to best portray the ever changing landscape of the city via way of electro, post-punk rock and tech tunes. This weekend will see the festival play host to artistes such as burlesque beauty,
Lady Lou, DJs (and festival founders),
Emmanuelle5 and
David Maars with MCing from
Andreas Schwarz too. Not only is the party's line up pretty special, it is hosted in the historic
SO36 club in Kreuzberg where back in the days of the city's division, the punk hardcore scene was birthed in its walls and people like
David Bowie and
Iggy Pop were regulars - not bad, huh? Not to mention in its heyday, the club was rival to New York's
CBGB's as being one of the finest new-wave venues in the world - impressive or WHAT?! If it's good enough for the likes of Bowie, it's DEFINITELY good enough for me!
So, throw some glitter on yourself and sashay down to the SO36 to be part of history in the making.
