Written by Patrick Broz: So, last week I was at the Dr. Dog show at the Magnet Club in Berlin. Let me tell you quickly that I purchased the t-shirt, which is only the third band t-shirt I have purchased in my entire life basically (with the exception of an undersized Hansen tee I bought as a prank for a dollar). Side from their exquisite taste in band merchandise, Dr. Dog also blew me away on stage. They played for an hour and a half straight, only stopping to retune and exchange a few quippy lines with the audience. As to how much of themselves the put into the concert, well, the fact that the bassist knocked one of the knobs of his instrument during the second song might be one indication, another might be the fact that they were essentially drenched in sweat (in a good way), or that they seemed nearly ready to drop by the end of the performance. In short, I don't think anyone went home thinking they could have played harder, or put more of themselves into the music they played last night. The fact that this was their first show in Europe (ever) only made the experience more pleasurable, and despite Magnet Club's somewhat cramped dance floor, there was more than enough room for everyone to gyrate and cut loose as the music demanded. As for my impression of the music itself; three years ago I saw them play a small gig at a record store in America and at the time I didn't purchase the album.
