Prenzlauer Berg is one of the most affluent areas of Berlin and it is bursting with cafès (not to mention a lot of families with young kids). If you want good quality food and drinks in a charming leafy area, then this is the hood for you. Here are some splendid cafes that offer a great service and atmosphere.
1. Napoljonska
Indulge your inner girly-girl with a trip to Napoljonksa. This intimate café, gussied up from floor to ceiling with pinks and purples, offers a precious little refuge from the hip and bustling Kastanienallee. If you stop in for your morning coffee, do it right with an order of their delicious Belgian or Vegan waffles.

2. Beakers
A heap of hospitality, a dash of comfy, a pinch of cozy, a dollop of badass and voilà, you have Beakers café and bar. Tattooed and pierced barmen and skull-adorned décor harmonize brilliantly with the unpretentious living-room furniture, warm service and fresh vases of flowers scattered around the café. In the morning, create your ideal breakfast by selecting your favorite breakfast classics on a checklist menu. In the evening, enjoy a wide variety of over 30 different bottled beers.

3. Le Midi
The candlelit tables and intimate atmosphere make Le Midi the perfect little spot to tuck away on a rainy afternoon – either alone or with a date. The café offers Corsican cuisine, including specialty baguettes and imported beers and lemonade. If you’re craving a bit of Corsica to take home with you, Le Midi is also well stocked in Corsican marmalades, beers, tapenades, confit and more for purchase.

4. Café Liebling
Bright, welcoming, and spacious, it’s no wonder Café Liebling is a favorite amongst Berlin locals. Found on the corner of Dunkerstrasse and Raumerstrasse across from Helmholzplatz, Café Liebling is sure to provide a top-notch cup of coffee and friendly, sociable service.

5. Wohnzimmer
What I would like to know is who’s über hip grandma furnished the Wohnzimmer and will she come decorate my apartment? This place is packed with old tables, couches, and lamps from what look to be gems of garage sales the world over, making eating out at Wohnzimmer feel more like lounging around at home but with the added bonus of table service and delectable dining. Tasty croissants and latte machiatos are served in the daytime and the place turns into a hub of activity at night, with vodka as the favourite tipple.

6. Café Morgenrot
It’s not every café that can promise political debate and cultural discourse alongside an organic, fair-trade coffee. But at the leftist collective Café Morgenrot, who has committed itself to promoting equality and dialogue across divides, thought provoking conversation is pretty much a guarantee. They have even gone so far as to introduce ethics onto the menu, offering a vegan/vegetarian brunch buffet Friday through Sunday for which customers can pay 5 to 9 Euros depending on how much they can afford, making it an accessible meal for all.

7. Lass Uns Freunde Bleiben
Close to the action of Kastanienallee but with just enough distance to be off the beaten path, Lass Uns Freunde Bleiben (translated is Let’s Stay Friends) is a great, mellow café to escape the masses and unwind with a drink. The afternoons are particularly laid back at Lass Uns Freunde Bleiben, but in the evenings the pace picks up and the café has more of a club atmosphere while still maintaining that underground, local vibe.
