Drink lots of water, psyche yourself up and remember that quitting is for losers. We are about to enter basically the most important weekend in the Berlin Art Calendar. I love gallery weekend , I get excited like a teenager on their way to the monthly youth club disco, you know some shit is going to go down. It’s like I’ve been put in front of a massive luxury picnic and I’m panicking about what to eat and sharing with anyone else- have you seen the spread? It’s a corker. The heavy weights are in town to flex some; My old boss Damo is teaming up with Michael Joo at Haunch of Venison, Gursky at Sprüth Magers, Mark Wallinger at Carlier und Gebauer, Frida-Kahlo and Olaf-Eliasson at Martin-Gropius-Bau, and Michael Craig-Martin at Haas and Fuchs, to name a few, you really are spoilt for choice. There’s no way I could single out which ones to choose over other others, and if I did it would defy the point. All the galleries are open late and throughout the weekend so that you see as much as you possibly can. Most of the openings are tomorrow night (Friday) and I’ll post a couple of the big ones, where you’re bound to bump into a few of the movers and shakers from the international art world, which always makes it a bit more exciting, giving it more of a rubbing shoulders feel. None of this, ‘I can’t be bothered attitude this weekend' it’s the art lovers marathon and as with running, make sure you have some good shoes (that match the rest of your outfit preferably- I don’t give a shit about your blisters)
